(N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) BOGOTA (Colombia), August 24. A Colombian DC3 airliner crashed and burned on take-off today at Barramcaber Mej* airport and first reports said 23 people were killed and eight injured, the Associated Press reported. Families of passengers at the airport attempted rescue efforts but were driven back by the flames. The plane, owned by the Colombian airline Taxader, crashed and caught fire as it left the runway. Reuter reported.
The airline reported the eight survivors suffered critical burns. It said the accident was the first in the airline’s 14 years of operation.
R.A.F. Jet Crash Kills Two (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, August 23. The pilot and observer were killed tonight when a Royal Air Force Sea Vixen jet aircraft crashed into a river while taking off from Yeoviiton, Somerset, air base.
