New Zealand Band
Sir, —The New Zealand Band has been judged first in the world band contest. We have the champions and champions of champions Will they return to their own country unheralded, unsung, in fact, ignored? The Russians know how to welcome their heroes; the Americans also—the air full of streamers, the streets lined with cheering people. But we. poor saps, just go on with our heads in the sand and treat with contempt anything of our own.—Yours, etc.. R. DAVIS. August 23, 1962.
