Pulp Books
Sin,—Congratulations to the Rev. L. N. Morris for his forthright condemnation of pulp literature and sexy films and advertisements. It is to be hoped that all Christians will take up the challenge and act concertedly for the abolition of these evils. Perhaps more sermons along these lines would rouse us from apathy—that ‘ deadly sin” of a well-fed, wellhoused community. The wonderful Book Week display of good books for young people in the Dominion Motors showroom deserves wider publicity as an antidote to the type of literature mentioned by Mr Morris. Perhaps the ultimate responsibility rests with parents to set the tone by their own reading, to provide plenty of good literature at home, and to encourage their children to join their local public libraries.—Yours, etc., (Mrs) FRANCES G. OXLEY. Secretary, New Zealand Baptist Women's League. August 22. 1962.
