Anti-Fascists In Britain

British authorities said today they were considering an application from the Yellow Star Protest Movement, an anti-Fascist group, to hold a public meeting in Trafalgar Square. London, on Saturday, September 1. The Minister of Public Works last week refused to allow the Square—tire traditional open . air forum —to be used for meetings by three different neo-Fascist groups on the grounds of public safety. Yellow Star announced yesterday that it was launching a petition for half a million signatures calling on the British Government to make oublic incitement to racial hatred an illegal offence It intended to present it to Parliament when it reconvened next October.
The petition is to be launched on September 1. Yesterday's meeting was attended by 200 persons, most of them yo*ung. Among the speakers from the platform was Mr Edwin Malindine. president of Britain's Liberal Party, who said: “Just as it is wrong to advocate the use of narcotics in public, it is equally wrong to propagate the evils of Fascism.”
