INFLUENZA AT HOSPITAL
Sixty Nurses Off Work Sixty nurses at the Christchurch Hospital were off work yesterday with sickness. Most had Influenza, whir'- broke out a week ago. With 56 nurses and four wand assistants away it was difficult to arrange relief duties for these still on duty, the medical superintendent (Dr. W. I. Paterson) said. Influenza eases have filled the medical beds, recuiring extra beds in the Christohurch Hospital and the Princess Margaret Hospital. Pneumonia cases have also increased. At the Princess Margaret Hospital 17 out of a staff of 227 were off work with sickness. but only e : ght had influenza. At the Burwood Hospital only four out of the 186 staff had influenza.
