NEW BANK BUILDING
Sketch Plans In Preparation (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. July 11. Architects are now preparing sketch plans for the Reserve Bank building which will go up on the Hereford street properties bought by the bank. According to a spokesman of the banx no decision has been taken yet on the exact proportions of the building but it will probably be a six or seven-storey office block to make the most economic use of the site now occupied by the Harris Bros., and Standard Insurance buildings. Although the bank only recently added the insurance building to its holding in Hereford street it has not yet decided to build over the whole area. Within the general framework of the bank's building plans it would give all the assio a nee it could to its newest tenant, the Canterbury Trustee Savings Bank, said the spokesman. The savings bank has offices in both buildings at present. A Christchurch firm of architects, Messrs Marshall and Trengrove, has been engaged to produce sketch plans of the new building.
