The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) will officially open the third New Zealand Shoe and Leather Fair in Christchurch on July 30. Mr O. D. W. Sewell, an inspector of schools under the Canterbury Education Board, has been appointed a senior inspector in Christchurch This completes the new structure of top positions with Mr H. W. Findlay as district senior inspector and Miss M. Simpson and Mr Sewell as senior inspectors assisting him.
Dr. T. C. Svensen has been appointed obstetrician to St. Helens Hospital, Christchurch.
Mr A. L. Curry, formerly station manager of 2YA has been appointed supervisor of presentation for the Broadcasting Corporation. He began his career in 1927 when he joined the former broadcasting company as an announcer, serving on YA stations at Wellington, Dunedin and Christchurch Station manager of 2YA since 1946, he has also had over-all charge of the activities of Radio New Zealand.
