SEAL IN POND
Flipped From Sea (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 26. A seal has left the sea for a spell in the fresh water of the Auckland Metropolitan Drainage Board oxidation pond at Manurewa. At high tide on Monday he flipped over a 10-foot wide embankment into the pond. A fur seal, the animal is about 3ft in length, and silvery in colour. Mr C. C. Collom, general manager of the Drainage Board, is quite happy to have the seal as a guest. “He can stay there if he wishes but we expect him to go out the way he came in,” he said tonight.
