School Payments
Sir—ln your issue of June 20 reference was made to children being victimised if payments by parents were
not made. This is correct, at in some cases the names of those children who have not paid are read out in front of the data and children have been told that unless subscriptions are paid they will be debarred from apart. Thu has the effect of harassing the parents whether the threat is carried out or not. as the children, in their anxiety, nag at the parents and say that they will be deprived of their chance to compete in sport. No households have the same commitments and in any ease should not be called upon to explain to a child why and whether or not they can afford a certain amount at a certain time. Moat folk desire that their children should take their money along; and for those who really can't it is wrong publicly to make a statement to that effect. It was good to hear that the Educaion Department will not stand for victimisation.— Yours, etc., SCHOOL SUB June 21. 1982.
