RAIL-CAR STRANDED

Press Association) GISBORNE June 17 The north-bound rail-car. due at Gisborne at 6 p.m on Friday, ran into a slip on the line about 16 miles from Gisborne. south of Bartletts, and became emoedded The south-bound rail-car. which left Gisborne at 5 p.m. arrived on the scene soon afterwards and was used to drag the stranded car clear The slip, about Sft r height on the bank side nt the line. „fell away to the level of the line on the other side. It is believed that it can'e down just before the rail-car ran into it. Both rail-cars returned to Gisborne and south-bound passengers travelled bv bu« from Maraetaha. south of the slip, to their destinations. A goods train left Gisborne at 6.45 p.m., taking a bulldozer to clear the slip The line was cleared about 9 p.m.
