THEFT OF OYSTERS
200 Dozen Taken (N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. June 17. Taranaki police are looking for a thief who some time early yesterday morning crept into the yard at the rear of a Waitara cafe, battered open a freezer underneath the window of a room in which the owners were asleep, and departed with 200 dozen oysters. The oysters were valued at 2s 6d a dozen wholesale—a total of £25. The theft, from the Rainbow Cafe, owned by Messrs H. S Sissons and L. J. Low. occurred some time between 2.15 a.m. and 7 a.m. yesterday. The intruder smashed a padlock on the freezer to obtain two tins each containing 75 dozen oysters, and another two each holding 25 dozen.
