TRAWLER HOLED
Struck Reef In Dark (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 17. The 45ft trawler Elsie Belle was beached by her skipper, Mr R. Thomson, after she struck a reef at I Whangaparaoa Peninsula in (darkness early on Saturday j morning. I Mr G. Perry was the other (member of the crew in the (vessel, which left Auckland last night for fishing grounds. The Elsie Belle is owned by the Ocean Fish Company, of Auckland. The manager (Mr J. Vella> said today that he was told by Radio Auckland at 2.30 a.m. that the trawler had struck a reef. Soon afterwards a salvage team headed by Captain W G. Dunsford left for Whangaparaoa. Mr Vella said the trawler would be repaired temporarily and brought back to Auckland. He said he did (not know the extent of the damage.
