BIG CARPET CONTRACT
Two Miles For N.Z. House
Two miles of special-grade Axminster carpet for New Zealand House, Haymarket, London, is being woven in the Riccarton factory of Felt and Textiles (N.Z.), Ltd. A spokesman for the company yesterday confirmed that it had won the tender let by the Government for carpet for 19 floors of New Zealand House. The carpet, unpatterned, will be woven in nine colours. The architects for New Zealand House plan to achieve a striped, contemporary effect by laying the carpet in a random sequence. The carpet will be made to the exact specifications and shades prescribed by the architects.
The carpet has to be delivered in time for the opening of New Zealand House towards the end of this year.
