ACROBATICS AT GORE

Man Lands On Locomotive (W.Z. Press Association) GORE, April 18. In an amazing exhibition of acrobatics about 3 o’clock this afternoon the driver of a heavy truck which had been struck by a goods train at an East Gore level crossing flew through the air, landed on the front of the engine and retained his grip until the train came to a halt. The truck driver, Douglas Muir, of Salford street, Gore, stepped down from the cowcatcher almost uninjured, but badly shaken. Mr Muir was driving a seven-ton truck. The impact threw him out of the cab and on to the front of the engine which carried him a considerable distance down the line before it came to a halt. The truck was a write-off

The only injuries Mr Muir suffered were a slight bump on the forehead and a knee graze. The Gore Volunteer Fire Brigade was called as the truck and the front of the engine were set alight from petrol issuing from the truck’s tank.
