“ Directors’ Policy The board of directors of the Bank of New Zealand intended to plan tor replacement of the old Christchurch headquarters building within 10 to 12 years, the Minister of Finance (Mr Lake) advised the City Council last evening. The decision was based on a continuation of present conditions and any major change in the economy could call for a revision
On the possibility of cutting back the existing building to line up with the new building and prov’de a seven foot set-back along the Colombo street frontage, the chairman of the board had advised that it was not practicable at present to cut back the old building: , out as soon as the new budding was finished the board would reexamine the position. However, it felt that the overall cost would be very high.
