The Olwyn landed about a ton of tuna—24s fish—to be frozen and sent to the Wattie cannery in Gisborne. A faulty auxiliary engine forced the Olwyn to. put into Auckland for repairs. Fishing off the Poor Knights on Saturday miming, the Olwyn had no difficulty in getting a full tank of anchovies for bait and finding a big school of tuna. The fish caught were taken within two hours. Bad weather stopped the Gisborne men from getting a full catch and the boat was forced to run to Great Barrier Island for shelter The Olwyn. which has been carrying out experimental fishing in both North and South Island waters, will be slipped in Auckland before putting to sea again.
