Heavy Falls Recorded Wind and flood damage from the week-end storm was surprisingly low according to local bodies in North Canterbury. Farmers generally considered the rain a good thing but they would not like, to see much more. The rainfall recorded at Rangiora for the 24 hours ended at 8 a.m. yesterday was 2.52 in. At Pendarves. a total of 3.21 in fell during the weekend. There was snow at Springburn on Saturday evening. About 1.67 in of rain fell in that area during the two days. Light falls of snow covered Mount Somers and Mount Hutt. There was no rain in the Mount Torlesse area yesterday. Last evening, snow was still lying at the bushline level of Mount Torlesse but the tops were clear. The sun shone after 4 p.m. Snow On Foothills No snow has fallen since Sunday evening at Arthur's Pass. Yesterday was cool and cloudy with snow lying only in patches. No difficulties with traffic were reported. Oxford appeared to miss the worst of the storm. Yesterday it was very cold, and snow still lay on the foothills, but there were only light showers. There were nd reports of flooding or wind damage. Low-lying parts of Eyre county, which are particularly susceptible to flooding, escaped lightly. About midday yesterday only very small areas were covered in water. Some tiles were blown from the roofs of a few houses, but apart from that there was no reported wind damage.
