“Save The Children” Fund

Sir, —I am of the many appalled to learn in “Hands Offs” letter, of the suggestion to divert part of “Save the Children” fund to Maori children, or that such a proposal be put forward, does grave harm to a genuine cause, especially now when public awareness and compassion for the dreadful plight of sufferers has been so fully aroused by firsthand reports from abroad, that the sponsors predict gathering in £500,000 in June, which would make our contribution worthwhile. Diverting one penny of it would constitute a breach of faith to the public. Strong and convincing assurances to the contrary should be given. Yours, etc., HANDS-OFF OR FUNDS-OFF. April 15, 1962.
