Road Safety
Sir,—May I draw attention to the traffic hazard at the junction of Avoca Valley and Port Hills roads, Hillsborough, on Sundays when the Ferrymead Pony Club meets in an adjacent field? The road at this point is narrow and curving; cars are parked haphazardly on both sides of the road, reducing traffic to one-way only. Much interest is being taken in the new tunnel road and Port Hills road carries a large volume of traffic on Sundays. Measures should be taken to prevent this irregular parking.— Yours, etc.. SAFETY FIRST. April 9, 1962. [Mr W. H. Scrimgeour, Heathcote County clerk, says “The county thanks the correspondent for his interest. The parking restriction signs are on order and will be erected in the very near future.”]
