Red Cross At South Brighton
The South Brighton subcentre of the Red Cross Society has taken an active part in various activities during the year including hospital visiting, the distribution of “Meals on Wheels.” the circulation of library books to invalids and fund-raising efforts. This was reported at the annual meeting. Members also made and packaged several sets of layettes for babies in Hong Kong. The group’s financial statement showed a good balance after donations had been rrade to Red Cross relief funds.
Mrs R. I. Brake, president of the North Canterbury centre, complimented the sub-centre on its achievements. She said more layettes were needed in Hong Kong and also peggy square rugs for invalids. Officers elected were:— President, Miss E. A. Morton; vice-presidents. Mes-
