“PLASTIC TOYS DANGEROUS”
Plunket Director’s Views (AZ. Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 15. Plastic toys were an increasing danger to children. Dr. Neil Begg. medical director of the Plunket Society told the biannual meeting of the society's Dominion council. Plastic toy's could be trodden on and broken. Sharp teeth could crunch this plastic into dangerous fragments. One plastic block which rattled was found, when broken, to contain pieces of broken glass “We should beware of these toys and stick to solid wood or material toys." Dr. Begg said. Thin plastic containers, no: only toys, could cause suffocation. A child could put his head in a plastic bag and be suffocated. Recently a child inhaled a small piece of plastic, it stuck in his windpipe and he was suffocated.
