CONGENITAL FAULTS
Survey Among N2. Infants IM Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 15. A survey was being undertaken on all New Zealand children with congenital faults who had been born within the last two years. Dr Neil Begg, medical director of the Plunket Society, told the biannual meeting of the society's Dominion council. Dr Begg is making the survey with the help of doctors and Plunket nurses He said German measles bad been shown as one cause Other persons had suggested other infectious fevers as causes Still further suspicion bad fallen on drugs and obstetric conditions.
“We may be able to unravel a few threads in this complicated but very important field by a nationwide survey." Dr. Begg said. The vital period for the embryo appeared to be the first three months of pregnancy.
