DR. I. A. CROSBY
(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS, April 13. One of the first women to qualify in Britain as a doctor, Dr. Isabella Anne Crosby, of Havelock North, died yesterday. Her husband, who died some years ago. was also a doctor. Dr. Crosby was born in Scotland and studied in London and Edinburgh. She was a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Surgeons. She came to New Zealand and set up in practice in Wellington. On her marriage to Dr. A. H. P. Crosby, she sold her practice to Dr Agnes Bennett, another pioneer in the field of women doctors. Her husband was at one time in charge of Sunnyside Mental Hospital. Christchurch. When he retired they lived in France but later returned to New Zealand and settled in Havelock North. Greek Immigrants Arrive “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. April S 3. The first six of 100 Greek girls who will work in New Zealand as domestics arrived in Wellington recently. The six will be employed in Wellington Hotels and hospitals. All single, the girls have just completed an intensive 14-w’eek training course in the English language. European cooking, and New Zealand customs. More will emigrate later in the year.
