Export Trade By Boards

PLYMOUTH, April 13. ; It was clearly the intention of certain producer boards to exclude private enterprise completely from the export field and create' for themselves monopolies, said Sir John Allum (Auckland) at the Associated Chambers of Commerce conference in New Plymouth today. The conference supported an Auckland remit which stated it was concerned that! the recent actions of certain producer boards in terminaiting long standing overseas trading connexions might, prejudice the country's reputation and goodwill abroad, and requested the Govern-' ment to examine the posi-i tion carefully to ensure that 1 the initiative and skill of! private enterprise were fully : utilised in co-operation with all other interests in thej development of New Zea-! land's export trade.
