Decisions By Corporation < N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 21. Policy for television would be decided by the Broadcasting Corporation, and only if its decisions were against the public interest would he intervene. the Minister of Broadcasting (Mr Kinsella) said in Dunedin today. Any instructions he needed to issue would be given in writing, he said, and they would be open to public scrutiny. Provision had been made in the act to prevent the use of “back-door methods.” and the Minister influencing the operation of the corporation, said Mr Kinsella.
He said the clause in the act governing the corporation’s operations had the same effect as the legislation relating to the British Broadcasting Corporation. Almost all new development in broadcasting and television would be financed by the new department, said Mr Kinsella. It was still planned to ex-
tend the news service given by the Broadcasting Service.
