SCHOLARSHIP FOR MILLS
Two-Year Course In U.S. (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 8. L. R. MiUs, who has dominated New Zealand shotputting and discus-throwing since 1956. has joined a Californian college for two years to further his athletic and business career. He will leave on June 30 with his wife and family for Foothill College, five miles from Stanford University. Mills, who is 27, will pay his own fares, fees and board, and will take a full-time business course. He will be attempting to win the shotput and discus titles for the sixth consecutive year at the national championships tomorrow and Saturday.
An Empire and Olympic Games representative, Mills holds the New Zealand shotput resident record at 57ft IHin and the discus mark at 173 ft 6in.
