Orient Switch To Goanese

The Orient Line has decided progressively to fill vacancies in the seagoing catering departments with Goanese, says the “Financial Times.”
This decision, which applies to ships on the Australian run, has been brought about by the serious shortages in recent years of suitable white personnel, and by the rationalisation programme made possible by the P. and 0.Orient merger. P. and O. and British India line ships have used a Goanese catering staff extensively in the past
