Cricket SUB-ASSOCIATION SHIELD
Peninsula Plays Malvern
After a most interesting day of cricket, Malvern and Banks Peninsula were evenly placed in the final of the Sub-associa-tion Shield competition at Kirwee. Malvern has a lead of 13 on the first innings. R. Gunn batted well at the start of the Malvern innings, but three wickets fell with the score at 41. The brothers, N. Q. and G. T. Wright took the score to 97. and the young player. M. Frew, batted sensibly toward* the end of the innings. For Peninsula, this innings was marked by steady mediumpaced bowling from N. Allen, who took six wickets and good wicket-keeping bv D. McPhail who claimed four catches and one stumping. Peninsula was away to a poor start, with three wickets down for 18 run*. McPhail batted with confidence to score 41. and later in the innings Paul and Peter Haglund took the score from seven for 92 to seven for 134. The opening bowlers. A. F.
