COLLAPSE AT BATHS
Schoolboy Dies
A young boy died yesterday afternoon after swimming in the Riccarton School baths. He was
John Henry Necklen, aged nine, a son of Mr and Mrs C. H. Necklen, of 67 Waimairi road, Upper Riccarton.
Mr Necklen is a traffic officer employed by the Transport Department. The boy, a pupil of Our Lady of Victories School, collapsed about 2.30 p.m. at the side of the baths after swimming across. Mouth to mouth resuscitation was carried out by a Riccarton School teacher and Dr. J. A. Lewis was called immediately. Tire boy was taken by St. John ambulance to the Christchurch Hospital and was found to be dead on arrival.
