Hagley Post Office

Sir,—About a year ago * news item in your paper said that a new post office called “Hagley” was to be opened. It was generally understood in the neighbourhood that it was to be at the corner of Montreal, Salisbury. and Victoria streets. When the shop was demolished recently at this corner it was thought that this, at last, was the commencement of the post office. Burt, we are now told it is to be still another second-hand car yard. As the name "Hagley” has already been given, the site must be chosen. Where is it?—Yours, etc., INTERESTED. March 6, 1962. [The Chief Postmaster (Mr C. J. C. Simpson) said that, through no fault of the Post Office, the arrangements entered into for the building of a post office in the Victoria street-Salisbury street area did not come to fruition. As a result, the Post Office was still looking for suitable premises or a site in the area. “We are alive to the need for a post office in that locality,” he said.]
