FASHIONS IN JAPAN
Wool Garments Favoured ( N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 2. Current Japanese clothing fashions favoured New Zeeland crossbred wool. Mr B. S. Trolove, a member of the Wool Board, said on his return from overseas. On a visit to Japan before attending the executive meeting of the International Wool Secretariat in London, he found people everywhere in heavy jerseys and tweed cloths. In one of Tokyo’s largest department stores he saw more wool on display than he had seen in any country in the world, said Mr Trolove. Japanese wool imports in recent years had grown rapidly and it was easy to see the truth of reports that more than 80 per cent, was for domestic consumption.
