TOTE STILL £56 SHORT
Clue To Lucky
Punter
(N.Z. Press Association)
WANGANUI. February 13. Although nothing has been heard from the investor who was paid £56 in error by a totalisator clerk at the Wanganui races last Saturday, the totalisator operators are still optimistic that they have a chance of recoverinj. the money. The mistake was made when a punter who had £35 each way on the last winner, Home on the Range, was overpaid by receiving double the total return on his place investment. Mr M. L. Smith, a representative of Automatic Totalisators. Ltd., said tonight that information received from another race patron who was in the member*’ stand payout queue after the last race had furnished a clue to the winning punter's identity.
