( N.Z. Press Association)
TAURANGA, Feb 13
The ingredients of a cheap temporary dust palliative which may have wide application in New Zealand were disclosed by the chief engineer to the Tauranga County Council, Mr N. G. Hansen, today. Mr Hansen recently returned from Australia where he inspected cement treatment work and other constructional methods for roads and airfield strips. The dust palliative in use in Australia appeared particularly effective, he said The ingredients and methods of application were: 75 gallons of slow-breaking emulsion, half to one gallon of a detergent. 1000 gallons of water, sprayed at the rate of one-fifth of a gallon per square yard on a lightly damp surface from a distributor.
The life of the dust palliative would depend on traffic density but it could easily be repeated as required. said Mr Hansen. The palliative would be parMcularly suited to such place* as summer show fair ground and the like.
