His final round cf 66, five under par. gave him a 15 under par total of 260 for the 72 holes, the Associated Press reported. The victory made Palmer the first double winner of the American winter tour. He came first in the Palm Springs classic only a week ago. Palmer also won the title at Phoenix last year. The win brought him 5300 dollars, to make his career total 275.754 dollars. Only two other golfers have earned more from the game.

There was a four-way tie for second place, between R. McAllister. W. Casper, D. Fairfield and the national amateur champion J. Nicklaus. at 281.
