The Soviet Commandant of East Berlin (Colonel Andrei Solvievi was denied access yesterday to the American sector at the Friedrichstrasse border check point. Colonel Soloviev was on his way to the British headquarters in West Berlin for an appointment with acting British Commandant (Mr Geoffrey MacDermotti.
British officials said they had told the Colonel that they expected hom to travel directly from East Berlin into the British sector. but Colonel Soloviev had insisted on coming through Friedrichstrasse into the United States sector. The Americans told Colonel Soloviev last December that he would be denied passage into their sector in retaliation for civilian aides of the United States Commandant being checked by East German police at the border.
