DEFAULTING BOOKMAKER
Large Warned Off (N.Z. Prrna Assn.—CopvrioM) SYDNEY. February 9 .The former bookmaker. J Large, today was warned off as an undesirable person by the Australian Jockey Club committee. The action was taken after Large had failed to obev a summons to appear before the committee this afternoon Last Tuesday the committee warned off Large as a defaulter Both actions were taken against him under AJ C by-la ws which apply to Randiwick racecourse.
But because of a reciprocal arrangement among racing clubs, the decision means Large will not be allowed to enter any racecourse in the world.
Today’s decision seals Large’s fate as a racing man When he was warned off as a defaulter, last Tuesday there was the possibility that, when he settled his bets, the ban would be lifter’.
But. being now warned off as an undesirable, he will be out of racing until the committee deems It fit for the ban to be lifted An A.J C. official said today Large was the first to be warned off twice for two different reasons. Large, through his solicitor, recently announced he was unable to settle betting debts amounting to £70.000. He said he had been betting on behalf of G. Edser.
