TRIAL SERVICE BY A.A.C.
Attention After
Hours Popular
A trial after-hours service, started by the Automobile Association (Canterbury) recently, was popular during the Christmas and New Year holidays. The service is operated by a woman living in an apartment above the association's new building in Hereford street. She answers telephone inquiries and keeps in touch with patrol officers by radio. On call, she opens the front office for tourists wanting maps and itineraries.
"The officer handled a remarkable number of inquiries.” said the general secretary (Mr E. S. Palliser) yesterday. “She was kept busy from early morning to late in the evening. This removed a heavy weight of calls from the private homes of officers.”
