REDUNDANCY POLICY
Women To Go First (N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 20. Married women working at the factory of Fisher and Paykel. Ltd., Mount Wellington, yesterday raised no objection to the decision that they must be the first to lose their jobs under the redundancy policy laid down by the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Engineers’ Union. More than 200 members of the union at the factory endorsed the union’s policy at the end of a meeting called to discuss redundancy. Fisher and Paykel, Ltd., have already dismissed 24 full-time members of the Engineers’ Union and 17 parttime workers from their plant. Engineers’ Union members at Alex Harvey and Sons, Ltd., have also endorsed the strict redundancy
policy. Fifty men in this plant are to lose their jobs on Friday.
