NEW LIQUOR LAWS
Solomon Is. Drop Permits ( N Z.P. A .-Reuter —Copyright) HONIARA (Solomon Islands), December 16 The Legislative Council this week passed a liquor bill abolishing beer oermits in the British Solomon Islands Protectorate and permitting anyone over 2! years of age to drink beer in public bars. Permits are still necessary for Solomon Islanders to drink spirits Under the bill hotel hours have been shortened, and now run from 10 a.m to 10.30 P m The bill will come into force on a date to be apnointed by the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific. Mr D C C Trench An amendment to the bill nrooosed bv non-officia! members providing for prohibition orders to be issued against habitual drunkards was accented bv the GovS-r--ment and included in the bill.
