POST-DATED WARRANTS
Early Testing Of Cars
Instead of waiting until the exact date of expiry of a vehicle warrant of fitness, motorists can have their cars tested early and have the new warrant post-dated.
Mr H. W. Birdling. actingsuperintendent of the City Council traffic department, said yesterday that motorists could get post-dated warrants up to 14 days before the old ones expired. For example, he said, if a motorist’s warrant of fitness was due to expire on December 14, he could have his vehicle tested on December 1, and the new warrant dated to expire six months from December 15.
Mr Birdling said many motorists were not aware of this allowance for post-dated warrants, but it was in accordance with the Transport Act.
He urged motorists whose current warrants were due for renewal to try to have their vehicles tested as soon as possible before Christmas.
