t ? More Hotel Safes (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 26. ( Activities this week-end * have brought the number of hotel safe robberies in the Auckland district recently to 24 involving £ 16,750. A safe containing about £3OO was stolen from the Grosvenor Hotel, Hobson street, Auckland, early this morning or on Saturday night The theft was discovered 3 by the wife of the licensee, a Mrs B. Tyson, about 9 a.m. f today. s She said the thieves had taken an iron bar out of a i window at the back of the - premises and then forced e open the door of the office. e On Thursday night the safe b of the Windsor Castle Hotel, in Parnell was stolen. It 1 contained about £450. i The theft of more than £6OOO worth of cheques from 7 Stedman and Stedman, pubs lie accountants, Queen street, ’’ was reported to detectives at the week-end. e The thieves also took 100 a Canadian and American dol- - lars and £5 10s in New Zealand currency.
