Grandstand Collapses
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 26. One woman broke an ankle and two other people suffered minor injuries when a small grandstand collapsed at the Royal Show at the Epsom Show Grounds on Saturday. The stand collapsed about 11 a.m. when large numbers of people were watching the shearing competitions. Mrs Muriel Elizabeth Ellin, aged 54. of 38 Beach road. Castor Bay, was admitted to Middlemore Hospital with a broken ankle. Her condition today was reported to be satisfactory. Lieutenant G. Paul, of New Plymouth, has been appointed senior officer of the Rcysl: New Zealand Navy's fishery protection flotilla, which consists of three 72ft twinengined launches.
