FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A ridge of high pressure extends from the east over the north of New Zealand; a weak trough of low pressure lies over the south of the South Island; a ridge of high pressure is advancing across the South Tasman Sea. Forecast:— Nelson and Buller.—-Light to moderate variable winds; weather fine with mild afternoon temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy. Westland.—Light to moderate variable Winds; cloudy with a few scattered light showers at first but weather becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon; temperatures moderate. Outlook: partly cloudy. Marlborough.—Moderate to fresh north-westerly winds at first, turning to moderate to fresh southerlies later; weather fine or partly cloudy with temperatures becoming copier. Outlook: mainly fine. Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh south to southwest winds; cloud increasing from the south with a few scattered light showers likely, chiefly near the coast; temperatures becoming cooler. Outlook: partly cloudy.
