Early’s Road
Sir, —Work done by the Rangiora County Council was reported in a recent issue, but I would like to draw attention to the state of Early’s road from the Eyre County’s sealed portion. For months the surface has compared with the track through Eyre riverbed, although a large amount of the latter has been placed on the road, plus water from Eyre ton and Springbank which then made it almost impossible for cars. Now more spoil has been laid on one side, confining traffic to one lane at the top of a rise, also to a narrow bridge. Signs on the road are not lighted. Before sealing the road surface should be straightened, removing hills and hollows.—Yours, etc., OLD RATEPAYER. November 13, 1961. [The Rangiora County engineer (Mr F. N. Parriham) said that no reply would be given as the council does not reply to anonymous letters.]
