ACCIDENT IN 1924
Driving Charge Withdrawn (H2. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 12. Mr M. C. Astley, S.M.. today granted the police leave to withdraw a charge of dangerous driving which dated back to October 18, 1924. The police prosecutor (Sergeant A. O’Connor) said the defendant, John Storrie, had only recently been located in Auckland. He was now 88, and did not remember anything about the incident. All the police witnesses were dead. Sergeant O'Connor said the incident occurred when Storrie was driving a taxi up Khyber Pass road and struck a man who was working in a group laying tramlines.
