Smart Trial For Orari
"The Press” Special Service DUNEDIN, October 12. Ben Ledi (W. Gye) and The Era (B. J. Anderton) showed their fitness for the Geraldine meeting when they recorded a smart trial at Wingatui this morning. These two members of H. A. Anderton’s team dashed over half a mile in 51 2-ssec, the opening furlong in 12sec. Ben Ledi beat all but the brilliant Roman Maid in the sprint at Geraldine last month when making a fresh start He appears to have done well in the meantime. The Era was a decisive winner at Gore last month. On that performance she could be a prospect In the Claude Stock Memorial Handicap. Corneil (R. J. Skelton) was given an easy run with Chattel (J. D. Pankhurst) over half a mile in 55sec, the opening furlong in 13sec. With a second and a third to his credit in three starts this season, Corneil is one of the fancied runners in the Winchester Handicap. The trials were held under Ideal conditions on the inside grass.
