Newmarket Sprints Fast At Riccarton

Newmarket sprinted seven furlongs brilliantly on the No. 1 grass at Riccarton yesterday. Hand Over was impressive in a fast mile gallop, and Abou Ben Adhem showed high speed for six furlongs. These horses have engagements at the Geraldine Racing Club’s meeting at Orari.

Galloping was done on a track almost bare of grass, and firm after a spell of fine weather. The morning was calm and mild, and horses could have hardly had better conditions for fast gallops.
