CAR THIEF’S PLEA
"influenced By Story In Paper”
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 12. A man who appeared in the Magistrate's Court at Auckland today for sentence on stealing a car bad apparently been influenced In bis actions by an article in an oversees newspaper, mid Mr J. W. Kealy, S.M. He sentenced John Victor Collins, aged 31, painter, to three months' gaol and ordered that he be placed on probation tor a year. Collins had read in an English newspaper that this type of offence was difficult to detect and therefore there was a good chance ot getting away with it, mid his counsei.
