Transistors Seized By Customs
(N.Z. Press Association) TAURANCA, Oct 12. Customs officers in a raid on the Japanese log ship San Fernando last night seized 32 transistor radio sets. The San Fernando berthed at Mount Maunganui yesterday and the chief Customs officer at Mount Maunganui. Mr R H Petterson, decided to make a check. The transistors, with earphone attachments, were found in the stewards’ quarters hidden under cartons of milk. Customs officers today estimated that the transistors would sell for about £35 each in New Zealand.
