BIBLE TEACHERS’ SCHOOL
Encouragement Main Aim
More than six Protestant denominations will be represented at a school for teachers of Bible lessons in schools, to be conducted by the Canterbury branch of the Council for Christian Education today. It will be the third such school organised by the branch.
The secretary - organiser (Miss C. I. Johnstone) said yesterday it was expected that between 60 and 100 clergy and laymen would take part.
The main purpose of the school was to encourage all concerned with Bible teaching in schools throughout Canterbury, The school would also help in recruiting others for such work, she said.
Anglicans, Baptists, the Church of Christ, Methodists, Presbyterians and the Society of Friend* would be represented.
The lecturers will Include the chairman of the branch 'Mr D. Mackay); the Rev. R. M. O’Grady; the Rev. E. M. Enright, supervisor of Christian education in the public primary schools of Otago and Southland; Mr M. Watson; Sisters N. Burgees and E. Allan; Mr* M. Patrick; and Mitt Johnstone.
